The annual CEDIA EXPO is a great place to check out the latest home theater and custom installation products from hundreds of vendors. With thousands of new products being demonstrated this week in Denver, it’s hard to experience everything but one product that definitely makes our shortlist is the Skyworth Clarus S1, the world’s first outdoor Google TV.
The Clarus S1 is designed to elevate the outdoor entertainment experience, the durable “Full Sun” TV comes with a powerful 8-speaker 100-watt soundbar audio system.
From Fang Fang Li, CEO of SKYWORTH USA: “With our expansion into the CI category, SKYWORTH USA looks forward to bringing American consumers the same advanced technologies and forward-looking design innovations that have defined our brand globally in the outdoor TV marketplace. During the coming year, we will debut an exciting collection of high-value, high-performance products in the U.S. market, offering brand new options and concepts for both outdoor and indoor entertainment.”
From Michael Gleason, Director of Sales, SKYWORTH USA, Lifestyle TVs: “I’m especially excited for our customers at CEDIA to see the outstanding outdoor TV solution we’ve developed, and I’m confident it will far exceed their expectations. One of the things we’ve really focused on in the last few months has been working closely with Control companies so that our valued CI dealers will be able to integrate Clarus easily into the entertainment systems of their clients.”
Core TV Features
First and foremost, the Skyworth Clarus S1 is a 4K UHD LED/LCD TV with full array Mini-LED backlighting. The backlight is divided into 400+ dimming zones that support precise light and dark screen display. The S1 also supports the HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision HDR formats.
Ambient Brightness Adjustment is also included to compensate for various lighting conditions which are a major consideration for consumers installing an outdoor TV.
The SKYWORTH Clarus is a “Full Sun” TV with a light output of 3,000 nits. Combined with an anti-glare screen the Clarus S1’s picture remains clear even under direct sunlight, outperforming both mainstream full and partial sun TV models on the market that may average 2,000 nits or less. The Clarus S1 can accommodate outdoor gaming or sports while poolside, deck-lounging, or just relaxing by a patio fire in the evening.
The Clarus S1 has a variety of built-in protection and durability features to withstand the demands of being outside for prolonged periods, including a tough, all-metal body and an extremely high tolerance for extreme temperatures. The attractively designed dustproof and waterproof enclosure boasts an IP66 rating. The set is also impact-resistant (IK10-rated Impact-resistant glass) and has a wide operating temperature of -4 degrees to 122 degrees fahrenheit.
The S1 comes with a soundbar that features Dolby Audio surround sound technology creating an immersive and inviting listening experience for sports, concerts, or movies. The soundbar incorporates 8 speakers supported by 100 watts of built-in amplification.
The S1 also features bi-directional Bluetooth technology so it can easily connect to mobile phones or other Bluetooth devices.
In addition to video display and audio capabilities, the Clarus S1 also incorporates the Google TV OS which provides access to an abundance of streaming content as well as including Chromecast Built-in capability which allows direct casting of content from compatible smartphones and tablets to the TV.
